Hi! I'm Tanise, the founder of Ocre. Welcome to our store, where together we explore our passions and rediscover our roots and connection with experiences, places and people.

 

Earthy Futures

Our brand is called Ocre, inspired by the Portuguese word for "ochre", a natural pigment connected with being-ness, language, soil and earth. Our designs are inspired by the raw simplicity, textures and colours of this material, balancing art and function to create beautiful and practical clothing.

 

Community

Our goal is to connect curious and creative minds and help them embrace their own unique style, from the way they dress to the way they live. We believe that clothes can have their own story, just like people do. We want to empower people to feel brave and comfortable on their journeys.

 

Between cultures

Like many of you, we at Ocre are a part of multiple communities. We honor the traditions and language of our upbringing, which is why we use the Portuguese spelling of our home country - Brasil with an "s". Our clothing designs are born in Canada and brought to life in our hometown of Porto Alegre, Brasil, where we partner with local artisans and manufacturers to bring our creations to life. We are committed to ensuring that everyone involved in the process is treated with respect and care, and we prioritize working with women-led and family-owned businesses that share our values and goals for a brighter future. For us, creating a piece of clothing is a collaborative effort that involves not just our team, but also our partners and the communities we represent. We are proud to support sustainable and ethically conscious fabric suppliers, from locally sourced cooperatives to companies that implement systems of rational energy use and wastewater treatment systems.
